Studying Broken Window Effect Do broken windows and other evidence of urban decay really foster crime? This study says yes it does. Actually, it says that when you clean up an area, crime goes down.

Walt Disney may have "discovered" this. He found if he had the clean-up crews keep D'land spotless, visitors were less likely to litter.
